The Present and Future of Solar Energy in the MENA

This report introduces the current and future development of solar energy in the Middle East and North Africa region, including the extent of recovery in the region after the pandemic caused by Covid-19. Specifically, readers can find in this report the strategic goals of renewable energy, especially solar energy, in different countries and a general introduction to the scenarios, technologies of solar energy applications, such as utility, commercial and industrial, smart city, concentrated solar power and basic information about the projects that is completed, under construction, or planned after 2019. The large-scales projects in the UAE (Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park) and Saudi Arabia (NEOM) reflect the huge ambitions of the region. At the same time, it can also be seen that the topic of energy storage has been put on the agenda.
