White Paper: Solar Market in Australia
There have been over 190 countries signing of the Paris Agreement whose purpose is to keep global temperature increases under 2 degree centigrade in the 21st century until 2018. The majority of states vigorously develop renewable energy for reducing carbon emission. The global cumulative solar PV capacity was 509 GW at the end of 2018. Furthermore, the top three largest total solar PV capacity countries were China, the United States, and Japan, with 176 GW, 62 GW, and 56 GW, respectively. As a robust environmental consciousness country in the world, the Australian government always legislate laws or use instruments to support the developmentof renewables. That is a reason why Australia becomes one of the most active solar PV players in the world, with a total installed capacity of 11 GW.
In this report, the current situation of the Australian electricity market andsolar PV market will be discussed. Then we will talk about some policies and instruments which the Australianstates governments implemented for renewable energy. Last but not least, this report will show the future of Australian solar PV.
